Let's talk about something we often forget to give enough attention to \u2013 well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We wait all year for those few summer weeks to finally pause. To breathe. To sleep more, walk more, eat a little better, and reconnect with ourselves and the people who matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And every year, the same thought crosses my mind: \u201cwhy don\u2019t I live like this all the time?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The truth is, well-being isn\u2019t just a reward after hard work. It\u2019s a fundamental part of being effective \u2013 especially as leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharpen the saw<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Another great summer read is \u201cThe 7 Habits of Highly Effective People\u201d by Stephen R. Covey.<\/strong> If you haven\u2019t come across it yet, there\u2019s a really good video introduction Here<\/a>. It\u2019s definitely worth diving deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The last habit is called \u201cSharpen the Saw.\u201d <\/strong>In other words: take care of yourself so you can keep going, and keep growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Covey identifies four dimensions we need to nurture:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf33 Physical<\/strong> \u2013 sleep, move, eat with intention, go for long walks<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf33 Mental<\/strong> \u2013 Read, learn, reflect, give your brain some fresh air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf33 Spiritual<\/strong> \u2013 take time for silence, clarity, purpose<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udf33 Social\/Emotional<\/strong> \u2013 connect with people who lift you up and make you think<\/p>\n\n\n\n

None of this is rocket science. But when we\u2019re \u201cin at the deep end\u201d \u2013 back-to-back meetings, deadlines, decisions \u2013 it\u2019s often the first thing we forget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What if we stopped thinking of well-being as something we do after<\/em> work, and began using it as part<\/em> of how we work?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wherever you are this summer \u2013 in the countryside, in the city, or simply at home \u2013 I hope you make space to sharpen your saw.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not because you need a break, but because you are worth maintaining. And because sustainable leadership starts with how we lead ourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
