This month, I’m excited to share a program I’ve been working on for several months. It’s been shaped by my experience as a HR development leader and coach, and enriched by the partnerships and inspiring leaders I’ve had the privilege to work with. A reflection on Inspiring Leadership

Let’s start with a simple truth: there isn’t just one way to lead. However, from my experience, the best leaders I’ve encountered share common traits and behaviors, whether learned, innate, or shaped by life’s events.

What sets exceptional leaders apart? Their open-mindedness and commitment to developing an inspiring style of leadership. You know, that authentic, curious, and enabling leadership.

In today’s interconnected, brittle, anxious, non-linear and incomprehensible world –  recently described by Jeremy Lamri – the concept of B.A.N.I., leaders have a key role to play: to inspire, to rally their teams, and to elevate their entire organization. 

Inspire, meaning « to breathe life into » perfectly captures the essence of leadership today.

So, the question is: how can you cultivate inspiring leadership?

Perhaps the answer is simpler than you think: to be inspiring, you must first be inspired.

At The Laughing Willow, we’ve spoken with leaders, challenged the existing models, and built a program that addresses this essential question.

By bringing together complementary expertise from experts and coaches, we approach leadership from multiple perspectives to offer you a comprehensive, 360-degree view.

Feedback anyone?

When was the last time you shared a feedback with a colleague, your boss, your team members or your loved ones? How did it go? If it was feedback on recognition, chances are it went well. Could it have gone even better if you’d sprinkled it with the “WHY” whatever it is that the person did that was so great? As humans, we need recognition and we also need to know WHY.

If it was feedback on improvement, depending on the stakes, chances are you felt a little uncomfortable. That’s Managerial courage! How did it go? If it went well, you probably prepared well and clearly stated the WHY and agreed on next steps..

If it didn’t go so well, chances are you could use a gentle nudge on the golden rules of giving feedback AND a little practise.

Meet Jane Tonal from the Generation Z

I have the pleasure of knowing Jane from the early days of her career and, in a world of constant change, I’m glad that our bond hasn’t broken. What has always inspired me about Jane is her quiet strength, her ability to step back,  think strategically and act pragmatically, all the while applying her creativity. When we were working together, she often challenged me on the ‘why’ and ensured that we kept focused on our key projects.

As the years went by, I also saw her determination and courage demonstrated on many occasions in her life, from traveling solo in Latin America to her recent decision to launch her own business whilst seeking a balance between her professional and personal life. With all of this, she developed her resilience even more, adopting a philosophical acceptance of the ups and downs without losing motivation. Inspired ?  You can connect and see her work

What makes a great leader to you?

Having had the privilege to work with many inspiring leaders throughout my career, I’ve learned that a great leader is someone who inspires and brings people together. Emotional intelligence, authenticity, and resilience are essential qualities, along with fairness, which guides every decision I make. Being able to look in the mirror with pride is what truly matters to me.

How did my leadership take shape?

My leadership journey began the moment I chose to be true to myself. By asserting my voice, I not only gained confidence but also inspired my peers to do the same. I strongly believe that we all have the potential to achieve great things if we stay true to who we are and take action. Starting Humadvise, my company in HR support for startups was a pivotal step. My goal is to succeed while proving that anyone, regardless of background or gender, can reach their goals. Personal balance also plays a key role in my leadership. Surfing, for instance, is as central to my life as my work. It helps me maintain the clarity and energy I need to perform at my best. This balance allows me to guide entrepreneurs as they grow, which I find deeply inspiring.

As in every monthly one-pager I’d like to share my musical energy with you. So turn the sound up and dance as if nobody’s watching 🙂
